We are pleased to announce that we have posted on our website our interview with the one and only, Frank Turner! We quizzed the punk rocker-turned-acoustic hero who has seen success both with his band, Million Dead, and as a solo artist, on his route into the music industry and asked him for advice for unsigned bands looking to follow in his footsteps.

The result is a great little interview jam-packed with good advice and practical tips for any unsigned band – so get over there and have a read! Simply pop along to our website, www.tinrobotrecords.co.uk , and click on the ‘Interviews’ section.

We’ll be posting more interviews with top music industry artists and professionals in the near future, so keep checking back!

Last Thursday and Friday, we had our excellent new signings, Silver Foxes,  in our recording studio, laying down their forthcoming releases!

The band were fantastic and we have been listening to the masters all weekend and we love it! The first single will come out at the beginning of July – and we will be uploading it to all the relevant Myspace pages, etc. within the next week or two for your listening pleasure!

The retro movement has so ferociously escalated in the past few years it is imbedded throughout our culture, from musical styles to fashion and even furniture and interior decoration.

Tin Robots are now no different! They first graced the world back at the turn of the last century as part of collector toy culture and like everything cool these days are making a re-emergence from a past generation. You could say they are the ultimate retro, notching up over 100 years of history.

So hot are robots at the moment they are popping up beyond ebay and specialist collectors.  We have noticed them become the subject of pieces of art, spotted affordable versions now available in small boutique stores and they are even appearing as designs on items of clothing.

As the craze gathers pace and tin robots infiltrate more and more of our everyday lives once again, don’t forget your favourite record label who beat the bandwagon and paid the ultimate compliment to our metal friends by naming our label after them back in April of 2009.

As previously mentioned, Tin Robot team member Andy completed the Reading half marathon this Sunday. As he found to his cost, training to 10 miles when entering a 13 mile race proved a slog – but in true Tin Robot style, he dug deep and finished the job, as you can see from the photo below.

His ‘run time’ was 2hours 10mins, but due to an unfortunate Paula Radcliffe moment (however all provided facilities were used on this occasion) he registered an official time of 2hours 23mins – a brilliant performance.

All of us at TR are chuffed to bits with Andy’s achievement – just the start of a year of running for him. In fact the whole team has embraced running recently (as you will know by now!), so this is the perfect opportunity to wish the best of luck to Pete and Sam in their next runs – The Bluewater 10k and the Canterbury half marathon.

Trouble seems to be a foot no matter where we look these days, with politicians ignoring the rules in a willy-nilly fashion and disagreements all over the shop! We here at Tin Robot however don’t like to dwell on such negativity and so are hoping to spread the Tin Robot ethos and love through inspiring you with our own activities.

This week, what with it being the beginning of British Summer Time this Sunday, we felt we ought to adopt a few more Summery activities to keep us motivated over the next few weeks!

Activity Numero Uno- The grow-off!
Following on from our creative guru Niall filling his balcony with green fingered goodness Pete has also taken up the baton and challenged Niall to a veg-patch style ‘grow-off!’ so may the battle commence and the best gardener win.

Number 2- Cake, Sweet cake
Following on with the food theme, for those without a balcony or garden to grow their produce we are also instigating a Cake competition or a Bake-off amongst the Tin Robot crew. However this is undeniably less about the competition and more about an excuse to eat more yummy cakes and have lots of exciting tea parties to taste each others best summery recipes!

Number 3- Run Run Running
What with all the cakes, Tin Robot are of course continuing with all of their running fun! Andy has recently completed a 13 mile run, so well done to him, and Sam and Pete are about to hit 8 miles as their training progresses for the half Marathon in aid of the Kent Air Ambulance Trust.

We hope you’re all inspired Tin Robot fans and will help us achieve our dream of endless amounts of yummy and home grown food…and not too much podge!

Well Spring is finally here, and along with it, the sunshine… if only sporadically! However from the chatter amongst our Tin Robot clan it seems this has been enough to help us all find the Spring in our step, and once again catch the infamous, yet undeniably enjoyable, ‘running bug!’

There are currently 6 of us all planning on taking part in events this year with the first of them being the Canterbury Half Marathon on the 23rd of May, shortly followed by the Bluewater 10K.

One of our chosen charities for this is the local ‘Kent Air Ambulance Trust’, so if any of you do feel the desire to support with your dosh instead of joining us with your feet, then please do check out our Just giving page at; http://www.justgiving.com/Sam-and-Pete-run

We may not be quite as dedicated as Mr Eddie Izzard who completed 43 marathons in 51 days last summer but in the spirit of our favourite supermarket, we believe, ‘Every little helps!’ so do feel free to keep us updated via Facebook on any of your impressive sporting achievements. We hope we have motivated you to complete a Spring Challenge too!

We’ve had a crazy couple of weeks here at Robot House – Kaleidophone’s tour was a resounding success and we are now gearing up for Wheeler Street’s single which will be released on the 22nd March. We’re also beginning work on deciding what will be the next Pete Briley single so watch this space!

This month Pete has had a very favourable review of his last single, ‘Semantics’, from the lovely folk at No-Title Magazine who said:

“Pete’s lyrics are both soothing and sorrowful; they convey the sense of giving in to the realities of life, and they are delivered with a voice characterful enough to grab the attention…it’s …hard to view this performance as anything other than a solidly written and moving piece of music.”

In other news, we had an excellent meeting with Kaleidophone last Friday. Our partnership with band is going so well that we decided to continue working together and their next single, Mr. Palava will be released on the 10th May – we’ll keep you posted regarding launch parties and details and there is even talk of album before the new year!

In the meantime, check out the Wheeler Street single at our myspace – www.myspace.com/tinrobotrecords
